There are many many times when, moved by some scent, or delectable delight - or some other sensory bit of bliss - that I long to visit an exotic land and immerse myself within its mysteries...India crops up quite a bit.So in celebration of my desire to visit (and after a 4 day Indian movie / gulab jamun* marathon), I created this heart-stopping combination of jasmine, lemongrass, vetiver and ginger...It's so heady and sensual, perhaps it will make you feel like a Bollywood star as well!* = Gulab Jamun (GOO-lahb ja-MOON) is my favorite dessert. Ever. For me, it's heaven...Fried milk doughnut holes soaked in sweet rose water syrup. It's perfect for me - especially as I'm lactose intolerant, have intermittent blood sugar issues, and am highly allergic to roses.Haaahahahahahahahahahaha!

By now most of you have gathered that I am highly moved by both myths and celestial movements...Being fairly attuned to seasonal progressions as well, when a very cool guy asked me to create a lovely scent for a holiday project, my mind automatically turned toward the concept of Winter - During the long, cold wintry nights this delightfully playful marriage of pomegranate, fig, juniper, cypress, white pine and blood orange will have you even more excited to jump into a hot bath or shower!I'm also exceedingly curious to see if this is another bar that gets mistaken for a pastry - in this case, a holiday fruitcake - and accidentally eaten. If it is I'll be quite pleased, as this was my original intent...I get lumps of coal in my stocking.Every year.Wonder why.

One day my friend Rose (supplier of the botanicals for many of our creations) popped by with 2 tall kitchen garbage bags stuffed full, said, “Can you make a soap with these?” - And proceeded to fill my kitchen with freshly picked lilac flowers. I set the timer for 4 hours, filled my soap pot, grabbed the alkanet root powder and flaxseed, and kept my fingers crossed. The end result will blow you away!

This is the little bar that started it all for Body Eclectic: Created originally for my friend Lori and her ‘babies’, who hate getting baths. After using this lavender, tea tree and herb infused bar she reported: “Apollo doesn’t freak out as much, Nym tried to eat the soap, it’s great for spot-cleaning Rosie, and Jasper’s itchy coat feels much better!” I use it dry directly on my skin in the summer to repel those irritating biting nuisances, it stops the itch of bug bites already received - and it does wonders for my hair. Conclusion: this soap is great for all my friends – and it doesn't matter whether they're two-legged or four!

This “bear-y” heavenly bar will satisfy even the bitterest of java hounds: French roast coffee and puréed raspberries breeze their way into our hearts just like one of our favorite treats! A sure bet for ‘instant favorite’ status, it came about as a guilt free way of enjoying little bits of latté heaven. The “cream” sprinkles are powdered soy milk powder from the local Indian grocer (although if it were anything like my drink of choice you wouldn’t be able to see the top of the bar!).

Brilliant, wondrous, unlike anything seen – Who could have imagined that this verdant, silky, mind-blowing cucumber-cilantro bar was once so strange looking, my friends and I originally gave it the nickname of “Hidioso?” This mild, cucumber cilantro infused creation leaves skin soft and silky, has a naturally light and beautifully fresh scent, and is so effective at cleaning...(How effective is it?)So much so that it can easily remove car engine grease from dirty hands...goopy resinous globs from surfaces...and strip the build-up off a kitchen ceiling fan that hadn’t been cleaned in years! A tongue-in-cheek infomercial may be in the works. That should prove to be a heck of a lot of fun...
